ERYT200 | Sampoorna Yoga Senior Teacher
I am living a life I really love every day. Yoga is an important part of that.
I took my first Yoga class more than 15 years ago. I was a law school student in New York City struggling to find health and happiness. I felt desperate to find an answer to the question: "What is enlightenment?"
In that first Yoga class, I had a lot of trouble and was looking around confused most of the time. I also experienced a change within me. I'll never forget how good I felt afterwards.
After years of practicing with many great teachers, I finally met a real Yoga Master who had discovered and was teaching the metaphysical and deep spiritual aspects of Yoga. He was over 60 years old, but his class was the best I had ever taken! I studied with Shri Yogi Hari at his Ashram in Florida from 2009 to 2013. Even though I had no desire to become a Yoga teacher, I completed his Yoga Teacher Training Program and accepted his invitation to start teaching at the Ashram.
Today, both practicing and teaching Yoga are treasures in my life. Yoga gives me good health, abundant energy, strength, and a feeling of calmness and well-being. I can be powerful and effective in whatever area of life I focus on, yet not take anything too seriously.
It's really a privilege whenever someone comes to me for their first ever Yoga class. I remember the kindness and patience of my first teachers, and aim to lay a proper foundation for safe and joyful practice, and experiencing the same benefits I have.
I'm most fulfilled whenever a student becomes dedicated to regular practice at home and with me. Such people tend to develop an eagerness for deeper self-discovery and mastery, and advance quickly. In turn, I discover myself newly in sharing what there is to discover.
There is nothing better than watching someone transform who they are and what they are capable of!

I asked Roy to teach a class for my coworkers at our Hakata office. It made such a difference, the district manager asked him to come back every month. He has a way of getting people to relax and see clearly. That helps me enjoy and be more effective in every area of life.
