Facilities & Equipment

Can I bring my own Yoga mat?

Yes, you can always bring your own Yoga mat to any class.

Can I rent a Yoga mat at the class? How much is the fee?

All of our classes at Chuo Gym have 20 premium-grade Manduka mats to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. If all of the Manduka mats are used, the gym has exercise mats suitable for Yoga practice. There is no extra fee to use our mats or the gym's mats. We will give you a sanitary wipe after class and ask that you clean the mat for the next Yogi. For classes and events at other locations, mat availability varies by class. Please check the class description to see if your own mat is required.

Is there a changing room? How about showers?

Yes! All of the facilities we use have changing rooms. The Chuo Gym has lockers and showers too.

What about bottled water?

We recommend bringing your own reusable water bottle. You can also purchase bottled water and other beverages from the machines at all of our locations.

Where is your Yoga Studio?

We are independent of any Yoga Studio, which allows us to offer classes at various convenient locations in Fukuoka! It also allows us to have lower costs per class. We pass that along to you with the most reasonable price for an awesome Yoga class in Fukuoka.

Where do I go to take a class?

What if I show up late?

We know that things happen in life and it is OK to discreetly join our classes late. Please be respectful to the other students already in their Yoga practice. Check if there appears to be a silent practice in progress, and if so, please wait outside the room until these practices have concluded. When you enter the room, please do so quietly and set up your mat in the nearest available space. Once settled, you can take some time to settle down and take a few deep breaths as needed.

Any other rules, recommendations or requests?

We recommend not to eat much at least 2 hours before class. We recommend not drinking much or any water during class, but we allow students to bring water bottles into the practice space. Different to that of working out, or practicing very strong and sweaty yoga classes, hydrating during class is not necessary. Also, most feel better without anything in their stomachs. Consider drinking a bit of water prior to the class start and hydrate accordingly after class is finished. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel if needed. Arrive at least 10 min before class. 20 min before class if it is your first class at that location. Mats and props are provided free-of-charge to most classes. We only ask that after any class, please wipe your mat, roll it up, and neatly return all mat/props to the same place where you found them. Note: Please try to return all props in a uniform way. Mats are tightly and evenly rolled up. Straps are tightly rolled. Blocks are stacked on the corresponding shelves.

Language

Which classes are taught in English?

All of our classes are taught in English as the primary language.

What if I don't speak English? Can I join?

Our classes are taught both verbally and visually. You will enjoy the class no matter your language ability. You will also improve your English understanding with every class you take. All of our Instructor Team speaks Japanese. If we see a native Japanese speaker struggling to understand, we may give some cues and instructions in Japanese. Even if you speak another language, we demonstrate all postures as we instruct before coming around to make adjustments. Many people come to our classes just to listen, watch, and follow along. You will have a great time and get the benefits of Yoga!
